Cynthia opened her first salon on Newbury Street in 1999 and has over 30 years of experience as a hair stylist and colorist. After years of training abroad and attending advanced courses at Vidal Sassoon, Toni & Guy and Sorbie, London, she has perfected her technique to create beautiful results for each individual client.
Due to the growing number of issues clients have with harsh chemicals and ingredients in hair care products, Cynthia and her team of stylists are certified in OWAY’s Organic Hair Color System for a multi sensorial, nontoxic salon experience. The health of the salon clients, staff, and the environment will always be in the forefront of her decisions for Cynthia K. Salon.
Cynthia is a master colorist who loves implementing the newest techniques and trends to keep her team and work fresh. She believes only great color can enhance the full beauty of an amazing haircut.
She is also proud to support HAIRraising for Boston Children’s Hospital.
Shanyn McCann
Shanyn joined the Cynthia K. Salon in September 2014. Before joining the team, she was a stylist at BLO South End for over 2 years and was an assistant at several of Boston’s top salons (including “Best of Boston” Bradley & Diegel). Known for her bubbly personality, eclectic style and pet bunny Ichabod, Shanyn has found her home behind the chair at Cynthia K!
Shanyn is certified by Coastline Enterprises – Color Freaks, Coppola Keratin Complex, Simply Smoothe Keratin Treatment, Blow Dy Bar, Inc., Organic Color System & American Board of Certified Hair Colorists (pending). She enjoys giving back, and has participated in Hair Raising for Boston’s Children Hospital in 2012, 2014 and 2015 as well as the Beauty For Boston Fundraiser in 2013 benefiting the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Elle Rose Ellis
With over 17 years of experience, Elle Rose Ellis, Began her career in the Hair Industry on Newbury Street. Always with hard work, a positive attitude, and a desire for creativity.
Elle believes strongly in continuing education and staying current with the ever changing styles. Elle is Goldwell color trained, Goldwell Kerasilk Keratin treatment certified. Certified in Organic-OWay Color Systems. Color training in Wella and Keune color systems.

Elle also Believes in giving back and is involved in Children’s Hospital Cut – A-Thon every year. Also donating her services to Charities such as – Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Ron Burton Foundation. ” I believe it is important to help others less fortunate in life.”
Maria Karalexis
Maria is a talented and passionate master stylist and colorist with over 20 years of experience. Maria has an innate ability to listen to your needs and concerns. With Maria’s creative ability together she will create a look that will best reflect your individual style.
Maria’s extraordinary eye for shapes and colors along with her infinite ability to use a wide range of cutting edge techniques makes her indispensable to her clients. Maria stays at the forefront of her field with her ongoing education and commitment to continuous education, and certification, by well known educators such as Vidal Sassoon, Bumble and Bumble, Oribe, and Goldwell Color Zoom to name a few.
Maria specializes in a broad range of services including multi – dimensional color techniques, to color correction, Keratin Smoothing Systems, as well as Houte Couture Cutting Techniques.
Maria participates in an annual charity hands on cut-a-thon for Children’s Hospital, back stage fashion show styling for MS Society, and Making Strides for Breast Cancer. It is nice to be able to share my passion to encourage and motivate inner beauty.
Pam Demattia
Pamela is a precision cutting and coloring stylist. She poses true artistic vision and shows impeccable attention to every detail. Her passion is working with clients to achieve their individualized style. She strives to keep up with the latest techniques and the most current hair trends for today’s fashion style.
Pamela is a certified colorist in Goldwell color, O-Way Organic Life, and Keratin Smoothing treatment. She is also trained with styling products from Oribe, Davines and O-Way Organic.
She updates her skills through continuous training education and travels the world to offer her clients the best.
Eddie Kelley
Incorporating haircutting and dimensional color with fashion past-present-future is Eddie inspiration. His signature is creating customize color and hair design that continues to work and look great from one visit until the next. Eddie training includes Garren/NYC and international.
